An opportunity to own a very rare non-side safety W W Greener, confirmed by the maker to have been completed in 1897 costing 35 guineas when new.
The blanked off side safety in favour of a ‘conventional’ top tang, according to the maker, was likely the result of a specific order coming in meaning that although this particular gun was originally destined for a side safety they opted to fit a top tang alongside the specially ordered gun for continuity on the bench.
Original Damascus barrels in wonderful condition, still very much in proof (checked by gunsmith, re-proved for nitro cartridges) with working Southgate type ejectors.
The stock has some beautiful grain and depth of colour, although has had a small repair at some point in its 126-year life, this is however absolutely sound and solid.
